Marketing on twitter
Quick caveat… Marketing is all encompassing. There is a difference between sales and marketing. Remember this as you read on.
Twitter is a great platform if you would like to get instant reactions to an event but for me, Twitter for business growth is dead. Queue the haters…
The life of a tweet is about 18 minutes. After 18 minutes your chance of interaction dramatically decreases. This is why I think Twitter for business growth is dead.
There are a number of things that you can do to market your business on Twitter though.
Firstly you can identify Twitter influencers and engage with them. This will give your tweet the greatest chance of success?
Do we post on Twitter?
For some of our clients, yes. Why? Because they have an account with a following and because we need their platforms to have consistent content.
Do I expect them to get loads of business from it?
Nope.
How can you effectively use Twitter?
You will need to be posting multiple times throughout the day. AND, like lots of other social media platforms, you will need to engage, tag people, follow people, like tweets, use relevant hashtags etc.
The next tip is to use LISTS. Manage contacts by adding them to lists. This will send them a notification so don’t use the list title: “boring people to avoid”.
Use the right hashtags and make sure they are relevant to the post and to your industry. #marketingontwitter
Don’t forget your pinned tweet. Make sure it’s relevant and engaging.
