Creating a ‘Google my business’ account

You may have seen the adverts on TV for Google My Business. They were centred around enabling your clients to leave reviews of your business and they are great for SEO and for helping clients, customers or prospects to engage with us.

Using the page you can update visitors with anything new about your business, show contact info, share business opening hours and of course display reviews.

These are the instructions that Google gives us:

On your computer, sign in to Google My Business.

  1. Sign in to your Google Account, or create one. Then, click Next.

  2. Enter your business’ or chain’s address. Then, click Next.

  3. Choose how your business will display on Google Maps.

  4. Search for and select a business category. Then, click Next.

  5. Enter a phone number or website URL, then click Finish.

  6. Select a verification option. It's recommended that you review your information before you request verification.

    • To verify now, at the top, find the red banner and click Verify now.

    • To verify later, click Verify later Later.

    • If you’re not authorized to manage the Business Profile for the chain, find the person in your organization who’s authorized and continue the process.
